Tasting:

Chilled before opening. Very light wheat straw color with a slight green tint. We upped our New California Wine again tonight and we are TOTALLY SMITTEN with this Sandhi Chardonnay!!! Highly aromatic and intricate scents of lemon, pear, vanilla, fresh chopped walnuts (Juglans regia), old weathered barn wood and the unique fragrance from a bouquet that includes lots of jack-in-the-pulpit. Smooth, creamy with a medium body and a 1000 grit texture. RICH AND CONCENTRATED pear, tropical fruit, warm fresh baked bread and even a touch of cinnamon flavor with just the right crisp acidity and long tangy finish that leaves you with a taste of minerals found in Ridge and Valley Province spring water. The combination of acidity, silky vanilla and ripe fruit was simply breathtaking. VERY SPECIAL WINE and a steal-of-a-deal for this luscious Chardonnay that can only be called MEMORABLE. Jon Bonné describes the Sandhi Chardonnays in his book The New California Wine, but drinking them really gives the term “California Chardonnay” a whole new meaning!!!
