Tasting:

He said: Chilled before opening. Slightly cloudy with a light wheat straw color. Strong vanilla aroma with a smooth, medium body and a taste that’s predominantly toasty oak, but with hints of tropical fruit that continues all the way through the long finish. This is an expensive California Chardonnay that was disappointing because I was expecting something special. It was excellent with the mushroom pate, but just “not bad” drinking alone after the dinner. Sorry, but I can’t recommend this Chardonnay at this price…there are just to many very good California Chardonnay’s at a lower price point.

She said: Golden yellow, slightly cloudy with lots of the irregularly spaced rapidly moving legs. Memories, that’s what this wine recalls and I love the strong vanilla aroma that leads to an oak flavor and a solid medium body with a long finish that continues oaky and adds the touch of bitterness at the end. It was fabulous with the mushroom pate and chicken, but just okay with the rest of the dinner. I would have this Chardonnay again for the dinner, but would shop around first for an oaky Chardonnay that is cheaper because I have had several had a much lower price e.g. Meridian and Columbia Crest.
