Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, garnet color with a lighter rim. Lush aromatic dark fruit aromas, predominantly blackberry and plum, but with whiffs of austere floral that reminded me of walking through a thicket of blooming shadbush (Amelanchier canadensis). Surprisingly smooth, very accessible, light-bodied, an 80 grit texture and maybe just a tad of blending to make the fruity sweetness so soft and approachable? Fruity, with signifant raspberry, plum and musky spice flavors, abundant lively acidity and WONDERFUL, abounding smooth-edged, supple, but grippy tannins that were truly “mouth-puckering”. The long finished ended with a combination of fruity taste mixed with in-and-out flickers of tar. A perfect pairing with the eggplant moussaka and we both commented how good it was drinking without food. A charismatic wine we would recommend and buy again…it was so fresh it was like picking fruit right of the tree. Vibrant, balanced and flavorful young Nebbiolo that was a FANTASTIC buy and another Matt Bayless wine selection.
