Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear brownish purple color with a slightly lighter purple rim. Dominant plum aroma, but more than hints of cherry, blackberry, damp earth and the strong smell of a barn full of fresh hay on a dry summer morning. Smooth, light body that was only a few clicks below medium and a 200 grit texture. Rich, VIBRANT fruit flavors that carry the aromas through the taste, invigorating crisp acidity and very well structured tannins that all ends with a spicy chocolate upturn on the lingering finish. The concentrated flavors, suave mouth-feel and exhilarating acidity really separated this “Baby Super Tuscan” form other Tuscan wines at this price point. Excellent paired with the Tuscan chicken dinner and cooked tomatoes covered with the mozzarella cheese. This is a bargain wine that’s worth getting excited about…We called it an OUTSTANDING, INEXPENSIVE Super Tuscan blend.

Note: We recently bought wine at the Woodland Hills Wine Company and Matt Bayless, wine sales consultant and Italian wine buyer selected wines for us. We asked him to pick the BEST BUYS IN THE STORE, and told him to pick any wines, regardless of price that he thought gave the biggest bang for the buck. This was one of his selections and when we review others they will be keyworded with the term “Matt Bayless wine selection” so the wines he selected for our review can be easily retrieved. We did this last year when we were in California and a couple of his selections were in our Best Buy Wines of 2017 list, so he picks good wines!!! Check our reviews of all his selections to see if you want to pursue them.
