Tasting:

Opened 45-minutes before drinking. Just barely opaque, dark purple/ruby color with a light purple rim. Strong earthy dark fruit aromas with a strong crushed rock smell. Spicy entry, fruity, slightly aggressive, medium to full body and a 150-grit texture. Supple cherry, raspberry and tart current flavors; abundant fresh acidity and round edged chalky tannins. All this continues through a dry dusty and refreshing mineral finish that goes on and on and ends with a chewiness. WOW, a Malbec with fruit and grip!!! When we purchased this Malbec Russ Anderson, owner of the Caviste Wine Shop, said this would be the most unusual Malbec we have ever had…and without question it was!!! Meaty, a bit rustic, but with lots of body, ripe fruit in the highlights and a dominating dusty mineral that holds it all together. It’s a real mouth full!!! The strong venison taste dominated the stir-fry, but paired very well with this bold Malbec. Juicy, lively and with lots of body and mineral, this Malbec is a real treat at a bargain price.
