Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, very dark ruby with a slight purple tint and a lighter rim. Wonderful earthy dark fruit aromas that lingered and had lots of sweet spice in every whiff. Soft, sultry and spicy mouthfeel, solid medium body and a 200-grit texture. Intense plum, boysenberry, endive or dandelion and fresh brewed black tea flavors. Plenty of bright acidity, unusually abundant fine grain tannins that grew and became slightly chewy and grippy in the long very fruity finish. WOW this wine was juicy, tasty and toothsome as it danced across the palate. It had what we would call “perfectly balanced” acidity…probably on the low side of traditional Gamay, but oh so delicious with the abounding fruit tastes and astonishing tannins. A FANTASTIC VALUE (in BOLD caps) Morgon Beaujolais.
