Geographic Origin: North Coast, California

Pared With: Grilled salmon, oven fried potatoes seasoned with Old Bay, cabbage salad dressed with lemon juice.

Tasting:

He said: Clear, light straw color. Very ripe apple and cinnamon aromas. Apple taste and hints of citrus that continues into a long lingering finish that ends with a slight fruit tartness. Not a lot of depth, but “not bad” and at this price we’ve had a lot worse.

She said: The wine was definitely not good with this dinner, but frankly, I don’t know what would be. The old bay seasoning overwhelmed it, as did the lemon on the cabbage. Once the dinner was done the wine came into its own. Although the label extols the virtues of its tropical fruit flavor, I could detect none. If I concentrated hard I could detect the slight oak flavor suggested by the label but the power of suggestion might have been in play on this one. The finish was long and had a kick of tartness at the end.
The over all experience was positive. The label made claims that I could not support but that does not mean I didn’t enjoy the wine. I did and I recommend it as a good buy at $10.75

Comments: We’ve tasted this before at a Village Tavern with tasting dinner and picked it out as one of the wines to buy. Now having it at home I’ll have to say I like it and would buy it again.
