Tasting:

Opened 90-minutes before drinking. Opaque, inky black purple color and a slightly lighter purple rim. Ripe blackberries, damp earth and hints of cinnamon and peppery aromas. Very smooth entry, dry spicy mouthfeel, full body and a 200-grit texture. Vibrant blackberry, plum and licorice flavors. Lots of brisk acidity, unusually smooth well integrated tannins and abundant tastes of menthol in the long finish. SUPERB paired with the venison, but unusually delicious for such a potent red wine when sipping without food. No question it’s stalwart red wine but it’s also memorable with its opulent fruit flavors, vivacious acidity and genteel tannins. A very special California wine that was powerful, luscious and enchanting…it’s in a class by its self!!!
