Tasting:

He said: Very dense dark purple/red color. Strong aromas of plum, cherry, damp earth and spices. Smooth as silk, intense fruit taste that you can chew on that stays through the long flavorful dry finish. This wine is simply OUTSTANDING!!! It’s so full of smooth flavors that every taste is an experience. The magnificent balance, layers of flavors and delicious bouquet all come together to make it a MEMORABLE wine. With the steak, cooked with the rub, it was simply an outstanding pairing. I call this a BARGAIN wine even at $40.00…and the best part is we have three more bottles!!!

I absolutely loved this wine when we first tasted it at a Caviste wine pairing dinner at Nobles Grill and had it with lamb…but I think it was even better paired with the steak and rub…a delicious meal with a memorable wine…it just doesn’t get any better than this!!!

She said: What do you do when your New Year’s Eve plans are cancelled? Plan a great dinner with a fabulous wine and that is exactly what we did. The wine was exceptional from the first sniff through the long finish. Starting with the first sniff I enjoyed the rich red fruit aromas underlined by a whiff of sweaty horse that became more prominent in the taste. Medium bodied and medium dry, the wine retained its flavors into a long lasting finish. Tannins were light, soft and well balanced. I would have chosen a more robust wine for a steak dinner but this was so good with the dinner I bow to Rays choice. Absolutely a delicious wine, but way out of the bargain range.

Comments: 1Misty’s Restaurant in Lincoln, Nebraska serves great steaks flavored with their own rub. I used one of the free samples I picked up last Fall on the grilled Filet Mignon we had with this wine. It is a superb grilled meat rub!!!
