Tasting:

Prologue: When we reviewed this wine the first time (see: Rajat Parr Wine Club Palomino Fino Scythians 2019) it had a dominating funky aroma that was very distracting. When we tasted our second bottle it was dramatically different and had none of the funky corked-like aroma. Following is the review of the second bottle.

Chilled before drinking. Slightly cloudy, oat straw color. Musty pear aroma that had a very slight oxidative smell and some characteristics of an orange wine. WOW, rich, dense and dry mouthfeel that had a chalky character to it, full body and 100-grit texture. Citrus and mineral flavors. Light acidity and a long rich and dry pineapple tasting finish. WOW, WOW, WOW this was an unusual white wine…it poured and looked light and fresh in the glass, but the first sip revealed its dry richness. However the tart pineapple taste, full body, low acidity and slight oxidation makes for a FANTASTIC Fall sipper. We’re very adventurous wine drinkers and this was our cup of tea because it opened new wine drinking opportunities. It was unique!!! EXCELLENT paired with the chicken Marsala, but even better sipping after the dinner. The Palomino grape is commonly used for the production of Sherry, but as a dry white wine its richness and low acidity really reveal the wines true character. We loved it and recommend putting it near the top of any adventurous wine drinkers “Must Try” list.
