Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, very dark ruby color with a lighter rim. Black cherry, plum and blueberry aromas with damp earth and cinnamon in the background. Smooth, rich and fresh dusty mouthfeel, medium to full body and a 150-grit texture. Robust cherry, current and blackberry flavors with just a smidgen of cinnamon and peppery spice. Plenty of edgy acidity that’s always in the background, very well integrated tannins and a wonderful crescendo in the finish that’s filled with fruit, silky tannins and an underlying bitterness that goes on and on. WOW, lighter mouthfeel, less fruit forward and much less “big” and “Bold” character than other Turley Zinfandel. It was restrained Zinfandel that was understated and marvelous. We liked this Duarte so much we’ll taste it blind with Morella Old Vines Primitivo with our second bottle!!!
