Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, purple/ruby color with a light purple rim. STRONG cherry, plum and strawberry fruit aromas with lots of barnyard and wet wood. Smooth, tangy, light to medium body and 200-grit texture. Black cherry, blackberry and light peppery spice flavors. Fresh acidity, soft tannins and a very long tart finish with just enough grip to the tannins to make it interesting. WOW, an atypical Sangiovese blend. Powerful bouquet that stays strong through every pour, good VERY DARK fruit taste, more substance than expected from a light/medium body wine, easy going Sangiovese tannins yet with a dry tart finish that really stands out. At the $14 price point it’s just shy of a very good Sangiovese blend. Unusual Italian blend that was delicious and a GREAT value.
