Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, ruby color with a slight touch of purple at the rim. Fruity blackberry and a touch of nutmeg and discontinuous musty, almost sweet oak aromas. Smooth, soft yet vivacious mouthfeel, solid medium body and a 150-grit texture. Blackberry, boysenberry, raspberry and a steady thread of sweet spicy flavors. Abundant, but certainly not overwhelming bright acidity, very fine grained tannins and a long boysenberry and peppery spice tasting finish that had just a touch of tannin grip and sweet chocolate. WOW, A LIGHTER ZINFANDEL that’s filled with fruit flavors, fresh and well balanced. Definitely not a traditional California Zinfandel. We drink a lot of Zinfandel and this lighter style, that’s more like Italian Primitivo, is really captivating and should fit into all wine drinkers repertoire of grape varieties. This delicious Ridge Blasi made our humble Saturday night dinner memorable. We called it OUTSTANDING Zinfandel that was a FANTASTIC value.
