Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear ruby color with a brown tint and the same color rim. Lots of blackberry and plum fruit aromas along with wisps of smoke, bacon cooking, heavy floral and tobacco. Smooth, quite spicy and lively mouth feel, light to medium body and a 150-grit texture. Savory boysenberry, blackberry and chocolate flavors. Edgy acidity, soft fine grained tannins and a long ripe berry finish. WOW, what a dramatic difference between the robust bouquet and the fruity light bodied taste. The flavorful, spicy and fresh taste were a real surprise. It was “easy drinking”, but lacked the depth we expected in a Syrah. By the end of the bottle we called it an excellent value Vin de Pays Syrah.
