Tasting:

Opened and decanted one hour before drinking. Opaque, inky dark purple color with a light purple rim. Blackberry, plum and wet wood aromas with hints of sweet spice. Profound, smooth, full-body with fantastic depth and 200 grit texture. Powerful plum and dense dark fruit flavors, dry, VERY well balanced fresh acidity and silky, silky, silky, but chalky, mouth-puckering tannins that all continue through a long peppery finish and ends with glimmers of licorice. WOW, a very Rhone-like Syrah. If this is “the new California” Syrah…we’re all in, it’s fantastic!!! A hand-and-glove pairing with the tri-tip and stellar sipping without food after the dinner. A little bit of the Rhone Valley and a little bit of sunny California…winemaker Anthony Yount gets bonus points for this marriage. Simply MARVELOUS!!! This wine reminds me of racing through a very fast corner in my Lotus Seven…the awesome balance sets the stage and makes the heart beat faster while drinking in the whole experience sets the excitement level to a height that’s better than sex!!!
