Tasting:

He said: Opened and decanted 30-minutes before drinking. Opaque, inky black purple color with a lighter purple rim. Plum and blackberry aromas with hints of wet wood. Exceptionally smooth entry, medium to heavy mouth-feel; intense dusty plum flavors that move to fleshy blueberry, substantial chewy tannins and just the slightest bit of tartness at the very end of the finish. WOW, WOW this was a surprising Australian Shiraz…it was smooth from start to finish, so well balanced it was difficult to distinguish a fault and even at 14.5 alcohol you couldn’t taste it on any pour. Captivating Barossa Valley Shiraz that’s an excellent value. Tim Coles at the Woodland Hills Wine Company scores again. This week we asked Tim to pick out what he thought were the “Best Buy’s in the store”, the wines that were the biggest bang for the buck at any price…this is one of them, and we agree, it’s a scrumptious wine!!!

She said: Dark purple red color with a rosy red rim, opaque with lots of well spaced and quickly moving legs. Be sure and decant this wine as our 30-minute decanting really opened it up and it blossomed with fruity aroma that became the gentile introduction to an explosion of intense flavors in the mouth. With a full body the wine was dry and smooth, had a long finish full of juicy fruit flavors accompanied by soft tannins. It’s far above our bargain price, but it was a delicious wine and a good value. Thank you Tim Coles at the Woodland Hills store for an excellent choice. This is one of those wines you wish you could chew. Although excellent with the barbecued pork, it’s worthy of much more elegant fare. This is a new world Shiraz that was delicious.
