Tasting:

Prologue: Unfortunately the first sniff of this wine revealed that it was slightly corked. However, underneath the corked aroma and taste we could tell the wine had great potential so we reviewed it without giving it a rating.

Opened 90-minutes before drinking. Clear, light purple/ruby color with a very light purple rim. Powerful aromas of wet wood, fresh baked or toasted bread, ripe red fruit and just a hint of cinnamon. Tart, dry, unusual solid medium body and a 200-grit texture. Unbelievably flavorful…tart cherry, raspberry and plum with a clove spiciness that stays through to the very end. Fresh acidity, silky tannins and a very long slightly bitter finish. WOW, hands down, this was one of the most flavorful Pinot Noir’s we have ever had. There were only 15 cases of this wine produced so we will probably not have the chance to obtain another bottle. Being slightly corked was a big disappointment since we liked the Domaine de la Cote Memorious Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2015 so much!!!
