Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, very dark ruby and purple color with a light purple rim. Aromas of damp wood, forest leaf mold, cinnamon, cherry, strawberry and tobacco leaves hanging in the barn with intermittent hints of clove. Smooth, complex mouthfeel with a solid medium body and a 400-grit texture. Rich, concentrated and fresh flavors of tart cherry, cinnamon, raspberry and mushrooms cut and ready to sauté. Well balanced lively acidity, soft edged leathery tannins and an exquisite complex fruit finish that’s smoky, spicy, mouth filling and MEMORABLE. WOW, WOW, WOW this was very special California Pinot Noir. It was silky smooth, had layers of flavors that never stopped arousing the taste buds and the velvety yet intense finish was simply to die for. A fireworks pairing with the lightly seared salmon, but nothing short of SPECTACULAR sipping without food. No question, it has to be one of the best of Raj Parr and Sashi Moorman’s Pinot Noirs…it’s great red Burgundy that’s just been touched on the edge with California sunshine. Not an easy wine to find, we bought this one during a visit to Sandhi Wines located in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, but worth some big-time effort to find if you want to taste all-time GREAT Pinot Noir. One of the most seductive and delicious Pinot Noir’s we have ever had…and it’s way under priced for the quality!!!
