Tasting:

Note: We had a 2009 Dacapo Barolo in December 2015, but it was paired with a lighter dinner heavily flavored with Parmesan cheese. When we had this 2010 Decapo Barolo we paired it with a heavier beef stroganoff and decanted it for 90-minutes and although it was similar to the 2009 we thought it was so much improved with the food pairing we gave it a second review.

Opened and decanted 90-minutes before drinking. Clear, light bronzy garnet color with a light purple tinted rim. Intoxicating cherry and sweet tobacco aromas. Smooth entry, bone dry, very fresh and a lively mouthfeel; light to medium body and a 80-grit texture. Ripe tart cherry and cranberry flavors with a touch of cinnamon, licorice and peppery spice. Plenty of bright acidity, strong chewy, yet smooth edged tannins and a long almost tart finish that filled the mouth with emerging tannins and spices. WOW, another delicious Barolo. The mouthfeel and evolving tannins were really special. The intense flavors and excellent balance were outstanding and the heavier beef stroganoff paired MUCH BETTER with the Barolo wine. We called it a noteworthy Barolo value.
