Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, but with a slight veil of very fine sediment, purple color with a light purple rim. Rich raspberry, cranberry and dried herb aromas. Smooth entry, dry, rich and spicy mouthfeel, medium body and a 80-grit texture. Very fruity with concentrated blackberry, raspberry and cranberry flavors. Harmonious edgy acidity, fine grained tannins that develop a nice grip in the long fruity, licorice and bitter finish that leaves a dusty mineral taste in the mouth. Very intense and robust Carignan, but at the same time the boldness is lost in the myriad of flavors. It’s clearly more a “knock your socks off” than a shrinking violet. In the end we simply called it an OUTSTANDING Corbières blend.
