Tasting:

Opened 75-minutes before drinking. Opaque, muddy purple color with a very slightly lighter rim. Robust wood and Cabernet dark fruit aromas. Velvety smooth, jammy fruit sweetness and a 400-grit texture. Bountiful ripe cherry and plum flavors along with a relentless juicy-sweet raspberry taste. Soft acidity, silky tannins and a long ripe fruit and licorice finish. Good paired with the beef dinner but it quickly fell off when sipping after the meal because of the pronounced sweetness. This wine MUST be a hit with many Cabinet Sauvignon wine drinkers with it’s juicy fruitiness, round edges and not the anticipated big, bold, over the top Napa Cabernet taste; but it screams sweet. When drinking this with our brisket dinner we both said “it’s not bad” Napa Cabernet at this price point; but our palates are not positive to sweetness and this wine had lots.

Just a side note: At a recent visit to the Woodland Hills Wine Company we asked Tim Coles a wine consultant at the store to selected one bottle that he thought was the “best buy in the entire store”, regardless of price. Tim selected this wine for us and it’s a great example of how differently peoples palates perceive wine tastes…this Cabernet had lots of virtues, but for our palates it was just to sweet.
