Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Just barely clear, inky dark garnet-purple with the same color rim. Dominant smoky oak and cherry aromas with lesser amounts of green pepper and dusty soil. Smooth, approachable, dry, substantial mouth feel, on the light side of full body and a 150-grit texture. Juicy cherry and current flavors with oregano and peppery spices. Plentiful bright acidity, grippy tannins and a long dry mouthwatering finish that ends with a spicy mineral taste. WOW, lots going on in this wine…recognizable bold flavors galore; excellent balance of fruit tastes, acidity and tannins; with a bold structure that really gives it character. When we bought this wine Russ Anderson, owner of the Caviste Wine Shop said it was going to drink like a “New World” wine, and it did, but it was also a fantastic Spanish wine value. If you like California Cabernet blends you will love this Altos de Inurrieta!!! This drinks like a $100 Napa blend for under $20!!!
