Tasting:

Opened 90-minutes before drinking. Clear, dark ruby color with the same color rim. Light red fruit and damp earth aromas. Smooth entry, fresh, spicy and concentrated mouthfeel, medium body and a 100-grit texture. Lots of tartness, cherry and just a touch of licorice flavors intertwined with an ephemeral mineral taste. Medium edgy acidity, firm tannins and long finish filled with bitterness and chewy tannins. WOW, this had alluring aromas, toothsome body, layers of flavor, mouth-coating tannins and it was PERFECTLY balanced. Yes, there was lots of California sunshine in the bottle, but the boldness made the Panoplie even more impressive. Not inexpensive, but it was rich, complex, a real treat and quickly became our favorite Tablas Creek wine. We will definitely up-grade the pairing with the next bottle!!!
