Tasting:

He said: Chilled before opening. Clear, light wheat straw color with a very slight visible effervesce. Faint citrus and ripe honeydew melon aromas. Smooth and dry with and invigorating crisp and chalky mouth-feel. Melon, lemon and pineapple flavors with a strong nutty backbone that became more citrusy as it finished. As it warmed up there was a trace of soft creaminess in the mouth-feel that gave it a unique richness. A delightful, fresh, dry and encouraging white wine and at only $10.80 it has huge potential. EXCELLENT Verdicchio that’s a SUPER value.

Note: We also reviewed the 2015 vintage of this wine a little more than a year ago and liked it very much; but, we have reviewed it again because we think it improved enough that it was like a whole new and different wine and we moved it from the TastedOnline.com category of “Recommended” to a “Quality wine at a Bargain price”.

She said: Light lemon yellow color. Small bubbles coated the glass surface as it was poured, although it did not taste effervescent; thin, short, evenly spaced legs that were rapidly moving. A salad dinner begs for a light bodied, citrusy, refreshing wine and this wine did not disappoint. It’s light melon aroma touched with citrus led to big flavors in the mouth complemented by a smooth almost creamy mouth feel. The finish was long and featured a citrus flavor and acidity that was especially complementary to the salad with its honey mustard dressing. This wine would also be go very well with grilled or poached white fish with lemon and butter or pasta with cream sauce. A wine with a versatile personality that’s a great value at only $10.80.
