Tasting:

Opened and decanted one hour before drinking. Clear, dark purple color that had a brownish tint and the same color rim. Rich cherry jam, squished raspberries, plum sorbet and smoky aromas. Smooth as silk, intense, complex, full body and a burly 150-grit texture. Potent flavors of spicy cherry and plum, grapes that have been sitting in the sum, dark chocolate and fresh ground black pepper; lots of bright acidity; leathery tannins that although start very smooth they had CONSIDERABLE grip; and finally a long, dry peppery finish that was combined with ripe fruit and the unique taste of drinking water anywhere in Sicily. WOW, we love Turley Zinfandel, but the soft dusty tannins just explode from mid-palate through the finish and really made this wine unique. OUTSTANDING paired with the venison burgers and a wine that was a real treat.
