Opened and decanted one hour before drinking. Opaque, dark purple color with a slightly lighter rim. Intense aromas of earthy plum, very ripe current and mixed mesophytic forest floor after a summer shower. Smooth entry, mid to full body and a slightly raspy texture; lots of spirited plum flavor with hints of playful spice, but SEDUCTIVE round edged structured tannins and a finish that ends tart, dusty and long. Potent wine from start to finish and ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC paired with the goat stew. Vicky said “this was a good wine to share under a toadstool with your favorite gnome”. We live in Kernersville, North Carolina (9-months of the year) and I’ll bet 100 to 1 that nobody in Kernersville had goat stew paired with a wine as good as this Faury Saint Joseph tonight!!! Enough said, this was OUTSTANDING Syrah…especially paired with goat stew.
