Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, very light brownish/red color with a light brown rim. Lots of barnyard, damp earth and faint pomegranate aromas. Smooth yet very lively and tart mouthfeel, light to medium body and a 200-grit texture. Pomegranate, raspberry and cranberry flavors intertwined with an unusual mineral taste. Lots of bright acidity, super fine tannins and a long tart cranberry tasting finish that had a surprising amount of tannin grip. WOW, WOW, WOW when we poured it into the glass and saw the brownish color we didn’t have high expectations, but the first sip changed all that. It was flavorful, filled with unusual minerality and energetic. This was an all-time great red wine and if there was a problem it’s because we didn’t open it sooner!!! We use Cellar Tracker to organize the wine in our cellar and I received a message that this bottle was overdue for drinking or it would have remained tucked away in one of the highest pigeon holes. We called it a spirited wine that was absolutely amazing. Our humble dinner didn’t do it justice.
