Tasting:

Opened 30-minutes before drinking. Opaque, inky dark brownish-purple color with slightly browner rim. Over ripe plum, raspberry and cinnamon aromas. Oppressive, heavy mouthfeel, full body and a soft 600-grit texture. Juicy flavors of voluptuous dark plum, raspberry, blackberry and Asian spice with glimmers of sweet tobacco and candied fruit. Soft, well-integrated acidity, leathery tannins and a long fruity finish. WOW, this looked like old Bordeaux coming out of the bottle and it really tasted more like sun pierced California Cabernet and Merlot without the ripe-tasting tannins. It was completely missing the fresh, light body and elegant flavors we normally expect in Pinot Noir. Clearly this was not what we expected, but in spite of it being a full-bodied, fruit-filled Pinot Noir it was very drinkable and enjoyable. We called it a VERY uncharacteristic brawny Pinot Noir.
