Tasting:

He said: Ruby red color (on the dark side for a Pinot Noir). Aromas of damp earth, ripe dark fruit and hints of mineral. Smooth, delicious, musty dark fruit taste that continues through a zesty, dry, medium-length finish. I was pleasantly surprised…this was quite a good Pinot Noir and an OK value at $27. I love Pinot with dry earthy fruit and smooth tannins….and this one has both.

She said: A rich but light aroma leads to not so rich taste with medium to light body and dryness. The medium long finish does not inspire me to buy more, however the smoothness does. Nice Pinot Noir but there are lots of good Pinots at this price point.

Comments: It should be noted that we had this wine at the same time we blind tasted the Joseph Phelps Insignia 2010 and Opus One 2010 and it was overwhelmed by these wines. The steak dinner was also not a good pairing for a Pinot Noir. We only had it because our son and daughter-in-law love Pinot Noir and we thought it would be a fun wine to include in the blind testing.
