Tasting:

Opened and decanted one hour before drinking. Clear, dark purple/ruby color with a light purple rim. Damp earth, cherry and strawberry with intermittent leather, tobacco and floral aromas. Smooth entry, bone dry, vivacious and luscious mouthfeel, medium body and an 100-grit texture. Musty ripe cherries, raspberry and peppery spice flavors with constant glimmers of tar. Lots and lots of bright acidity, grippy tannins that just exploded in the long tart cherry and tar finish. WOW, this is potent wine that was overflowing with tastes and mouthfeel and one of those wines that’s very satisfying with tiny sips. Although we didn’t pick it up in the first pour, there was an underlying stony mineral taste that really added depth to the wine and greatly elevated the already expansive range of tastes. We thought it was superb and called it a spirited and burly Nebbiolo that had a touch of sophisticated elegance.
