Tasting:

Slightly chilled before drinking. Clear, thin dark cherry red color. WOW aromas of barnyard, wild Wineberries (Rubus phoenicolasius) and sourdough bread right out of the oven. A WOW silky smooth, tart and very slightly creamy mouthfeel, light to medium body and a 400-grit texture. Earthy Wineberries, glimmers of strawberry and pomegranate flavors and an inkling of mineral taste in the background. Light crisp acidity, soft fine grained tannins and a long fruity finish that had just enough peppery spice to make it vibrant. This is a very unusual wine…it’s a Rosé, but with a unique substantive character. This wine had vigorous aromas, lusty flavors and a sensuous mouthfeel, while being both assertive and elegant. If your looking for some adventure in your Rosé wine drinking, look no further than this La Araucaria Rosado…it’s FANTASTIC!!!

Side Note: In January 2019 we reviewed a Mission wine (see: Rajat Parr Wine Club Pais 2017 that was very similar to this La Araucaria Rosado. Mission wine grapes were from Listan Negro vines brought to California from Spain. When we smelled and tasted the unique ripe Wineberries and funky barnyard we immediately thought of the Raj Parr Mission wine we like so much. Now that we recognized the similarity of the two wines we need two more bottles of each and do a blind side-by-side tasting!!!

Listan Negro grapes are grown using the unique cordón trenzado (braided cord) method, where the canes are braided together and supported by posts to facilitate better airflow
