Tasting:

Opened and decanted one hour before drinking. Opaque, purple/ruby color with a lighter purple rim. Fresh plum, cherry and smoky aromas. Smooth entry (with a slight taste of alcohol on the first pour) with a dense and lusty mouthfeel, medium to full body and a 150-grip texture. Rich ripe plum and current fruit flavors with persistent hints of sweet spice. Nice bright acidity although it wasn’t dominant and fine grained tannins that had a pleasant grip in the long bitter fruity finish. WOW!!! NOT THE USUAL Turley Zinfandel. Plenty of California big and bold, but a proficiency that gives it a light and Mediterranean character. Nothing was over the top and the balance was AWESOME. Great paired with the venison and the exquisite character of the wine made it noteworthy sipping without food. A very tantalizing mixture of tastes that adds a whole new dimension to Turley wines. And, with the going rate for good Napa wines this was an OUTSTANDING VALUE!!!
