He said: Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, very dark purple color with a garnet rim. Blackberry, wet wood and hints of alcohol in the aroma. Smooth, rich, dry, fruit taste and a dry, dusty long finish with lots of flavor. Another triple WOW from the Vila Viniteca Wine Shop in Barcelona. There were hints of alcohol in the first pour, but it disappeared and the taste just got smoother with each pour. Paired with the venison it was MEMORABLE. The only thing missing was someone to share this delicious combination with us. Outstanding blend of Tempranillo and Shrah and an excellent value at this price.
She said: Initial hints of alcohol in the aroma along with fruit and slight oak flavors. It filled the mouth with a full body and pleasurable tannins that lasted into the long finish that held on to the delicious flavors. I would like to enjoy this wine with bread and cheese and forget the dinner; it was a “licking your chops” good wine. Ray opened the wine about an hour before we drank it, but earlier would have been better as we found the wine improved dramatically over time. But the big news is about the pairing and there is only one word to describe it…”PERFECT”. The venison was dense and strong flavored and benefitted by being paired with a flavorful full bodied wine. Absolutely DELICIOUS!
Comments: Purchased in a Barcelona, Spain wine shop and consumed in the Britannia Restaurant on board the Cunard Queen Mary 2.
