Tasting:

He said: Opened and recorked for 14-days (but tasted exactly as it did when first opened). Crystal clear, brownish amber color. Fairly strong vanilla and unripe apricot aromas that was a little smoky. Intense taste of squashed raisins, honey and hints of lemon zest that carry all the way through a long finish. LOTS of heavy sweet flavor and a fairly crisp acidity in the finish…delicious!!! Quite good with the sweet pumpkin flavors of the cheese cake but excellent drinking alone. It’s a wonderful desert all by itself. This isn’t my favorite Madeira, but it is VERY DELICIOUS and a GREAT VALUE for the price.

She said: There is no doubt the cheese cake and Madeira go together but this cheese cake was so sweet and so smooth it doesn’t work well with the Madeira for me. We had it a week ago with less sweet pumpkin pie and thought the two worked perfectly together. At $21.60 it is a VERY good buy and delicious Madeira, but try something else for a super rich and sweet accompaniment.
