Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Clear, ruby color with a light red rim. Very musty red fruit and sweet spice aromas. Soft and smooth mouthfeel, medium body and an 80-grit texture. Cherry, pomegranate and cranberry fruit flavors mixed with licorice and chalky mineral. Very nice level of fresh acidity, fine-grained tannins that just showed their grip in the long mouth watering dense cherry finish. WOW, this wine was a real sleeper with its enticing bouquet, layers of fresh flavors that continued to develop from the first sip to the last and a strong finish that simply invited the next sip. We especially liked the soft, smooth mouthfeel in juxtaposition with the gritty texture. It was a very fresh and delicious Pinot Noir from the Loire Valley.
