Opened 90-minutes before drinking. Clear, ruby color with just a hint of purple tint and a lighter color rim. Strong damp earth, ripe plum and dark chocolate aromas. Dry, lively and tickling mouthfeel, medium body and a 60-grit texture. Earthy ripe plum and strong vegetal flavors with just a touch of raspberry, chocolate and peppery spice mixed in. Bright acidity, very smooth well integrated tannins and a long very rich, almost chewy, plum finish. VERY well balanced with moderate California sunshine combined with noteworthy aromas, mouthfeel, flavors and tannins. This Merlot really made our simple pot roast supper special. We found this wine to be quite unusual with an exceptional mix of both Napa and Bordeaux Merlot characteristics. For a Merlot produced in California the acidity and lighter body was simply stunning!!! By the last sip we said it was absolutely MEMORABLE Merlot.
