Vistamar Sepia Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Recommendation: A good buy for an OK inexpensive Cabernet.

Winery/Producer: Vina Vistamar; Pelequen, Chile.

Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon.

Geographic Region, Appellation: Maipo Valley, Chile.

Vintage: 2010.

Price: $10

Purchased From: Total Wine; Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Paired With: Grilled hamburger with blue cheese and braised Brussels sprouts.

Tasting:

He said: Dark cherry aromas with hints of smoke and alcohol. Strong, smooth…almost creamy sweetdark fruit taste and medium length finish with dry tannins and quite a lot of smoke and spice. A little rough around the edges and pretty much a one-dimensional wine; but an OK Cabernet at $10. The finish is not long, but it stood out for me. We have a second bottle and it will be interesting to see if the recommendation holds.
