Tasting:

Opened one hour before drinking. Opaque, garnet color with a purple tint and a very slightly lighter color rim. Rich dark fruit, sweet tobacco, wet leather and musty old wood aromas (with a little alcohol on the first pour). Vibrant entry and a lively dry spicy mouthfeel, medium to full body and a 100-grit texture. A boatload of blackberry, ripe plum and current fruit flavors. Bright acidity, potent grippy tannins and a long bitter mouth puckering fruit and licorice finish. WOW this was a gutsy wine with its spirited tastes and mouthfeel. We were a little put off by the alcohol in the first pour, but despite the high content it was quite well integrated. Outstanding paired with the strong flavored chicken We called it an exhilarating Spanish red.
