Tasting:

He said: Chilled before opening. Very pale yellow-green color. Ripe apricot and pear aromas. A taste like the juices of pear, apricot and some tangerine. The finish was a little tart and a little bitter. Very smooth and easy drinking…and fruity sweet like an off dry Riesling. I was hoping for the traditional crispness but it simply wasn’t there. Clearly not the stereotype Pinot Grigio, but at under $5.00 it’s a good value and I would say worth more than the price we paid for it. Its easy drinking and refreshing and should fit the typical American wine-drinking palate.

She said: Pale yellow, clear, and with numerous thin speedy legs. Virtually no aroma but the very fruity taste was accompanied by a medium body. The finish was fairly long and it has a streak of tartness that entered in briefly. Crispness was lacking and the wine was not a typical Pinot Grigio. On the other hand it was very easy drinking and I would like to try it with an Indian dinner instead of a Riesling. At this price I would buy it again and pair it with something that would benefit from its sweet fruitiness. As time went on the sweetness became clawing and an unpleasant after-taste emerged that was like an artificial sweetener.

Comments: Just a side note, we have had several Rex-Goliath wines (See Tasting Results) and they have all been a surprisingly good value. This was probably the only one on the edge of being a recommended wine.
