Tasting:

Opened 45-minutes before drinking. Clear, but with a lot of very fine sediment in suspension, dark ruby color with a tint of purple and a lighter ruby rim. Very fruity aromas mixed with damp earth and rose floral. Silky smooth entry, rich, dusty mouthfeel, medium to full body and a 100-grit texture. Intense and juicy ripe cherry, raspberry and cranberry flavors. Mouthwatering, but only medium acidity, wonderful well integrated tannins and a long fruity and rich textural finish. This was a real WOW Spanish wine. Overflowing with ripe fruit tastes, fantastically rich mouthfeel and it all continues long after the finish. The combination of ripe fruit with the tannins and spice that carries through and beyond the finish is simply fantastic. We loved it with our pizza, but it was clearly a wine that was way above our humble dinner. We called it a Spanish red that was way under priced.

Note: Just as the Laura Lorenzo DaTerra Viticultores Portela do Vento 2017, attached to the bottle just below the wax seal was an easily removable folded information card in both Spanish and English. Included were descriptions about: growing conditions, harvesting and wine-making. Although it may seem like a trivial thing, having this information available when we were drinking the wine GREATELY added to our enjoyment.
