RED BLENDS
2003 Vintage - BLIND TASTED in March 2006 Last Chance Firebreak
|
Hervé Pennequin This wine took its name from a wildfire that crossed this small area on Stags Leap district. This is the last vintage of this cuvée of 92% Sangiovese and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon (the Sangiovese has been replaced by Syrah, Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon). The wine spent 20 months in 30% new French oak to reveal a dark purple color with black fruits aromas with notes of tar. The tannins are very smooth and racy with flavors of orange and cherry. The wine finishes on earthy character showing an elegant spiciness.
