Hervé Pennequin The origin of the varietals in the blend (all five with less Malbec and more Cabernet Franc) comes from the benAÂchland vineyard from the replanted vineyard at the corner of Oakville Crossroad and Silverado Trail planted of rocky, volcanic soil at the foot of
the Vaca Range (almost under Dalla Valle). The wine spent almost 22 months in 80% new French oak. The color is intense of red purple hues on a dark, almost black color in the middle. The wine expresses complex flavors of meatiness, dry herbs with spices, cloves, a touch of vanilla with black fruits, black cherry, blueberry developing at aeration, long persistence of the aromas. While the palate reminds you of a racy Saint Estephe, with intense, unctuous tannins, earthy in the middle of the mouth, the wine develops an elegant finish with a great balance. The notes of blond caramel, smoky and black fruits flavors add to the complexity.
Andreas Larsson Same dark, opaque color, the nose is very generous with dark fruits, figs, tobacco, minerals and licorice. The palate is very broad and structured with ripe fruit and massive tannins, very long aftertaste. Very massive yet balanced.
