CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2002 Vintage - BLIND TASTED in March 2006 Sullenger Vineyard - Oakville
|
Hervé Pennequin this vineyard is located on 30 acres right behind the farmstead on clay loam soil. The wine spent about 20 months in 50 percent new French oak barrels. The wine shows an intense red purple color almost black. The aromas are very floral with red berry fruits and some kirsch evolution in the end. The palate expresses a juicy, jammy blueberry flavors. There is a very smooth touch of oak with smokiness and meatiness in the long finish. This is a very elegant wine that pairs well the woody and earthiness touch of the wine with racy and silky tannins.
Andreas Larsson Color is somewhat similar to the others, the nose is complex with hints of mineral, roasted coffee, dark fruits, cherries and plums. The palate has good depth with marked tannins, good fruit and a long aftertaste. A good glass of wine.
