CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2002 Vintage - BLIND TASTED in March 2006 Stelling' Vineyard - Oakville
|
Hervé Pennequin Two acres of this vineyard which represents the primary source for the Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon, is farmed by Nickel & Nickel. The soil of deep volcanic loam with underlying clay and gravel brings to the wine the necessary structure for full bodied wine. This single vineyard has spent 18 months in 60% of new French oak. The wine posses a high intense red purple color with a very deep core. The aromas are powerful of black fruits, black cherry, plumy with violet and licorice tones. It evolves on notes of cacao and light, smooth spices of cloves and vanilla. The wine on the palate shows harmony, suavity and silkiness. The black fruits completely cover the mouth and the flavors towards the end finish on a tender smokiness and meatiness, very racy and noble tannins combined with an 'out of this world' distinction. Very racy.
Andreas Larsson Same ruby red color, the nose is generous with sweet and dark fruits, cherries, blackberries, tobacco and certain smokiness. The palate is structured and broad with chewy fruit, polished tannins with good finesse. The aftertaste is long and elegant, a rich and structured wine with lots of fruit and finesse.
