CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2002 Vintage - BLIND TASTED in March 2006 Carpenter Vineyard - Napa Valley
|
Hervé Pennequin Only of 8 acres, this block is located in the small area of Combsville, just east of the city of Napa. The cooler conditions and West-South West exposure of the vineyard allow low and graduate ripening and helps develop the tannins maturity. This is one of the latest vineyards to be harvested each year by Nickel & Nickel. The color has intense hues of purple doubled by a rich intense, almost black, garnet color. The nose brings complex aromas of plum, prune, and black cherry, kirsch, with licorice and violet tones. It is very persistent. The palate matches the intensity of the aromas by bringing flavors of tar and spices along the same black fruits. The density of the mouth is well balanced by extracted but soft tannins. The volume is rich and voluptuous. The Carpenter Vineyard is the source of the Dolce white varietals.
Andreas Larsson Medium deep ruby red color, the nose is medium intense and offers cherries, blackcurrants, mineral and tobacco. The palate is full with marked tannins, fresh acidity good fruit and a long aftertaste.
