CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2002 Vintage - BLIND TASTED in March 2006 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
|
Hervé Pennequin The 2002 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the 'Keyes vineyard' at 1600 feet high on the eastern slopes of the Vaca Range
on a mixed soil of volcanic sediments and clay. Surrounded by redwood and pine trees, the wine shows a very intense red ruby color. The aromas of spices, herbal characters with cassis, cherry, prune evolves towards the end to cacao, sweet caramel from the wood aging. The intensity of the flavors in the mouth expresses a great concentration and the tight tannins supports the richness of the wine. The acidity helps to keep the flavors flowing throughout the mouth. After a long finish, the wine smoothly ends on leather and forest floor flavors.
Andreas Larsson Very dense and deep ruby red color, the nose is elegant and offers blackcurrants, tobacco, almonds and coffee. The palate is powerful with loads of dark fruit and marked tannins with a long aftertaste. Very elegant and at the same time powerful.
