CHARDONNAY
2004 Vintage - BLIND TASTED in March 2006 Chardonnay

Hervé Pennequin The wine aged for nine to ten months in two third of new French oak after being fermenAÂted completely in oak barrel without any malo-lactic to preserve the freshness and avoid the so-called 'buttery' flavors. All wines at Far Niente are inoculated. The grapes found their source from two vineyards (Barrow Lane and John's Creek) in a small area, Combsville, which benefits of the same cool conditions than Carneros, less windy with a deeper soil of well-drained gravelly loam and volcanic ash soils. Very clear and bright yellow gold color of medium intensity, the wine gives elegant aromas of ripe pear, banana, light citrus, very profound and persistent; the nose finishes on flowers tones. The palate has a great vivacious acidity, rich and intense with smooth spices, vanilla and smokiness, very delicate and long finish on flavors of chocolate and cacao.
