RED BLENDS
1999 Vintage - BLIND TASTED in March 2006 Maya
|
Hervé Pennequin The 1999 Maya is very dense, almost opaque. The high tones of plum, prune with violet flower on the nose show the extraction and the high quality vintage in Napa. The aromas are very persistent with a touch of oak that is elegant and smooth. The palate presents a wine with density and complexity, full of black fruits. The acidity is well combined with the texture and will help the wine to age for a decade or more. The length is exceptional.
Andreas Larsson very dense ruby red color, the nose is very open and complex with hints of minerals, dark cherries, tobacco and spices. The palate is very structured and both broad and long with silky tannins and great complexity. Makes me think of Haut-Brion.
