Tasting:

Opened two-hours before drinking. Opaque, inky dark garnet/purple color with a light purple rim. Cinnamon, blackberry and raspberry fruit aromas with lots of sweet tobacco in the background. Silky smooth entry, chewy, tart and rich mouthfeel, full body and a 80-grit texture. Raspberry, plum, blackberry and strong cinnamon and occasional caramel flavors. Lots of fresh, well integrated acidity, firm tannins and a long bitter and mouth puckering finish. Big and bold California Zinfandel, but oh so delicious. The sweet tobacco and cinnamon really gave it a unique taste that dominated from the first sip to the last. Even at 15.5% alcohol (I guessed 14 or 14.5) there was no smell or taste of alcohol on any pour. It made the simple chili dinner special and we both made the same comment…”this was delicious Zinfandel”. I especially liked the way the aromas echoed the tastes all the way through the finish.

Whitney Tennessee vineyard is a mixed planting with small amounts of Petite Syrah and Carignane vines
